Dacian looked up at the flashing neon sign above the door and the hoards of people bustling in the line that trailed all the way down the street.
He turnt to Celeste, "Pick out someone who is your size and who has dark clothes. I'll show you how to lure them away, how to feed, and you get a new set of clothes."

Celeste looked frightened at the sight of all the people and she leaned against Dacian and looked up at him, "They can't hurt me?" she asked.

"They can't hurt you." He reassured, giving her a marginal push forward with his hand on the small of her back, "I won't let them. Show me when you found the one you want"

Celeste wandered slowly away from Dacian, keeping her head down submissively and her hands clasped in front of her. No one even looked up.
Then she returned to Dacian and pointed out a laughing, swaggering girl about her size wearing black boots, black leather pants and a soft dark gray sweater.

Dacian nodded and started walking down the path, his stride long and purposeful. He passed the group, casting Celeste's chosen female a sideways glance, making sure his eyes caught the light of the neon sign.
The group, already slightly drunk made appreciated noises at Dacian, one wolf whistle accompanying the chorus. He smiled at the reaction and took a few steps back, drawing level with the group.
Making it clear he was only interested in the leader of the group, he stepped up to the rope barrier that stopped the line from spreading to the rest of the path. He gave a curious glance at the lead female, "Have I met you somewhere before?"
The girl radiated with the attention and shook her head, soft hair brushing the top of the grey jumper.
Dacian gave a smile, flashing a perfect teeth, his fangs hidden below his bottom lip. "What's your name?"
The girl smiled, her friends jostling her from behind, "Maria." She replied.
"Maria." Dacian repeated. "Do you mind if I borrow you for a moment Maria?"
Usually Maria wouldn't have left with a stranger but with the alcohol in her system and the giggling and encouragement from her friends, she stepped over the rope and stood beside Dacian.
Dacian continued to smile and nodded to the rest of the gaggle of girls, "Good day." He said, his arm going to his hat to tip it before he realised it wasn't there. He turned the movement into a bow much to the delight of the girls and lead Maria away. Away from her friends, away from the light, and ultimately away from her life.
He walked passed Celeste, muttering "Follow." Below the hearing of the drunken human. He rounded a corner and pinned Maria to the wall, his hand over her mouth.

Celeste trailed along obediently at Dacian's heels, her blue eyes studying Maria.

Dacian reached out with his free hand for Celeste's, ignoring the muffled protests from the girl. "We'll share," He told Celeste. "You need more strength and I haven't fed yet tonight."

Celeste squeezed Dacian's hand as she stepped closer and delicately sank her newborn fangs into Maria's neck.

Dacian moved the hand she had placed in his to cover Maria's mouth. "You're stronger than her, keep her still while you feed. If she manages to scream, leave. Quickly."

Celeste pressed her hand down hard over Maria's mouth, feeling the strength in her as she flexed. She drank deeply and Maria slowly quieted.

Dacian took hold of Maria's arm, sinking is own fangs into the soft skin of her wrist. He drank quickly, nervous at feeding so close to a large crowd of people.

Celeste continued to drink until there was no more left in Maria's veins. She released her jaws and licked the blood from her lips.

Dacian lowered the arm and let Celeste take the weight, "Take the clothes that you want," he said, heading to the end of the ally, "I'll keep an eye out." He turned his back on Celeste and took up station at the end of the ally, hidden in the shadows. He wished he had his hat to pull over his face, shielding him even more from the sight of humans. He pouted and crossed his arms over hi chest, leaning against the wall. He'd get it back one day, out of principle. And the knife...

Celeste pulled her dress off over her head and folded it neatly, setting it aside. Then she methodically stripped Maria of all her clothing and put it on. It was just a little too big on Celeste's nearly anorexic frame. She dressed quickly and then went silently to Dacian's side and took his arm.

Dacian looked over his shoulder at the body slumped on the ally floor. The girls pale skin all but shone in the darkness of the ally without clothes to cover it. Dacian gave a sigh, giving a hinting glance at the large dumpster against the back wall of the ally.
"Celeste." He prompted, taking his arm away from her.

Celeste cringed a little, following his gaze and realizing her mistake.
"I'm sorry." She said, deeply contrite. She went back and lifted the girl who was slightly bigger than she was with ease. She carried her to the dumpster and then hefted the girl into it. There was a hollow, dull thunking sound as the body hit the trash.

Dacian winced at the sound, convinced even though a human shouldn't have been able to hear it over the thrum of music and the chatter with their poor hearing that they might of.
He strode down the ally and took hold of Celeste, vaulting the wall at the end of the ally. He landed easily, set Celeste down and started travelling in the shadows, pausing only occasionally to let Celeste catch up.
