The man on the stall stunk, a bitter, oily smell that burned the back of Dante's throat, a hint of spoilt meat making his eyes want to water. The man was corrupt, there was no doubting that even without the smells. The smells of course were just his heightened senses picking up on things even ordinary human intuition could tell him. Given the choice Dante would never purchase anything from somebody like this. A small hand reached to his fringe which he pushed back impatiently, clearing his eyes, trying to gain a good view of the item he was being shown. "And there's definitely no silver in it?" he asked impatiently. "No, no silver, and blessed by the Bishop himself" the oily voice replied. Sighing Dante reached into his pocket and extracted the handful of notes and coins he'd scraped together, then waited for the crucifix to be passed to him. he didn't trust this man not to simply take the money and run. A flash of pain which clouded the cornflower blue of his eyes occurred when he realised that he didn't trust anybody. Taking the crucifix into his hand he waited for the pain to begin, the burning, the sensation that made him want to tear his skin off. It didn't come, and handing the money over he slunk away. This whole area made him uncomfortable, it was full of liars, cheats and thieves. And he was only hear on overheard words, his father's words at that! He laughed harshly, such a bitter sound looking out of place coming from such an innocent face. He thought back to what he'd heard, his father discussing hunting vampires. Vampires! He couldn't believe that such things existed, yet, how could he deny the possibility when he himself was what he was? So he'd come here, to the only sort of place he could think of where he could buy protection from the Undead, from the demons of the night, without having questions asked.
